‘Al final del arco iris’ musical in Seville
The musical representation ‘Al final del arco iris’ (‘At the end of the rainbow’) arrives at the Teatro Lope de Vega in Seville. It’s a play that looks back at the turbulent life of the Oscar-winner Judy Garland. The acclaimed actress from the film ‘The Wizard of Oz’ goes through her personal and artistic life thanks to a great selection of her best songs. The creator of the musical is Peter Quilter, and the responsibility of the direction falls upon Eduardo Bazo and Jorge de Juan, accompanied by Natalia Dicenta, who plays majestically the role of Judy Garland.

The show is a musical of comedy and drama, and it’s considered one of the most emotive and recommended musicals of 2012. Far from being a great super-production with huge infrastructures, ‘At the end of the rainbow’ has as its stage a suite in the Ritz Hotel and the concert venue of Talk of The Town, places where the play unfolds. The text shows us Judy Garland with a broken heart but with a permanent smile on her face. The actress goes back and sings all her most memorable songs before her death, making some of the attendants of the musical accomplices of the show and witnesses of her final cry and her artistic heritage. Legendary and representative songs such as ‘Somewhere over the rainbow’, ‘For once in my life’, ‘Get Happy’, or ‘Come Rain or Come Shine’ will accompany us during the more than two hours that the show lasts.
‘At the end of the rainbow’ is without doubt Peter Quilter’s masterpiece and his most popular creation. The play has been staged for years in 24 countries around the world, picking up great success on the way.
According to the Spanish critics, Natalia Dicenta’s interpretation is sublime. each of the songs, the texts and the dialogues seem to run through the Madrid-born actress’ veins. The cast is completed with the participation of Miguel Rellán and Javier Mora. A detail to take into account is that the costume design is done by Yvonne Blake, winner of an Oscar and four Goyas.
